“Mother It and not Murder It”

When God created the woman, He made her beautiful and perfect. This perfection is represented in different shades, curves, and complexions, hence some black and others white. He showcased more of His finesse as He gave them breasts that would not only serve as a bosom for her husband but also bring forth milk to nourish her suckling.

The nutrient derived from a mother’s breast milk cannot be over emphasized. Many nutrition experts clamour daily for the female folk to return to exclusive breastfeeding because of the immeasurable benefits. Breastfeeding is not only known or practiced by Humans, a quick check to the animal Kingdom confirms that breastfeeding is a healthy and natural practice of all mammalian animals. They take out time to care and breastfeed their young ones like their lives depends on it. It is surprising to know that one way or another, they know the benefits of breastfeeding and caring for their babies. A typical example of such animals are elephants and apes (female Orangutans); she breastfeeds her child for a minimum of 5 years, others are Polar Bears, dogs, cats, goats, cows, sheep, horses, even rats as crazy as we term them to be, have that understanding that breastfeeding profit their babies and it is therefore naturally imbibed as a practice that they do not compromise.

When the topic of breastfeeding is mentioned, many people, especially women, have a lot to say concerning it. In one random conversation on this same subject matter, Ayodele Oloyede, a yet-to-be-married Banker with one of Nigeria’s popular bank said he would not allow his wife to breastfeed their child exclusively for 6 months when she delivers because he wants her breasts to remain firm and fresh for him. “No wife of mine will let any child suck her for 6 months, all my children will take processed baby foods and later proceed to adult meals as they grow older”, he affirmed. Do you call this love, possessiveness or sheer display of information dearth? Wonder how many people walk about today with this erroneous orientation on breastfeeding?

Some females largely admit to certain non-medical excuses/barriers for not breastfeeding, which include work-related issues, personal preferences, having an unsupportive partner, feeling embarrassed, concerned about pain which are not healthy for the mother and her baby, and physical/medical problems.

Making the decision to breastfeed is a personal decision. It is also one that is likely to draw strong opinions from friends and family. Many medical authorities, including the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) and the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists in all their knowledge and scientific conclusions strongly recommend breastfeeding. But in the end, you and your baby are unique, and so the decision is up to you.

For knowledge purpose, it is worth emphasizing that breastfeeding has been linked to higher IQ scores in later childhood in some studies. Breast milk provides the ideal nutrition for infants, especially when you have a nutritional boost that improves the content like CestraPre Natal Once A Day’ proving necessary nutrients before conception, during pregnancy and in the lactation period which assures all-around wellness naturally for mother and child.

Cestra Pre Natal Once A Day is purposefully formulated to prepare women for pregnancy and promotes health, growth and development of the baby. It provides the special nutritional requirements of the woman and the developing baby throughout the pregnancy and after delivery. It supports the immune system, energy levels, and vitality during pregnancy and breastfeeding.

Breast milk has a nearly perfect mix of vitamins, protein, and fat provided in a form more easily digested than infant formula everything your baby needs to grow. Breast milk contains antibodies that help your baby fight off viruses and bacteria. Breastfeeding lowers your baby's risk of having asthma or allergies. Plus, babies who are breastfed exclusively for the first 6 months, without any formula, have fewer ear infections, respiratory illnesses, and bouts of diarrhea. They also have fewer hospitalizations and trips to the doctor.

Asides the medical benefits, breastfeeding your child improves that “Mother & Child bond”, the physical closeness, skin-to-skin touching, and eye contact all help your baby bond with you and feel secure. It also gives you regular time to relax quietly with your newborn as you bond. American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) and the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, says breastfeeding also plays a role in the prevention of SIDS (sudden infant death syndrome) and known to lower the risk of diabetes, obesity, and certain cancers as well.

Breastfeeding is also beneficial to the nursing mother as it helps her lose pregnancy weight faster. It releases the hormone oxytocin, which helps the uterus return to its pre-pregnancy size and may reduce uterine bleeding after birth. Research also has it that Breastfeeding also lowers the risk of breast and ovarian cancer. It saves time and money since you don't have to buy and measure formula, sterilize nipples, or warm bottles.

This provides an opportunity to encourage mothers to make it a culture and do what it takes to keep their babies and bodies in check before pregnancy, during pregnancy and more necessary when nursing their young ones as we celebrate and live with this awareness now and after the World Breastfeeding Week is over.

Together, let’s join the rest of the world in choosing wisely today “Mother It and not Murder It”…
