PHARMACOLOGY: Chlorpheniramine binds to histamine H1 receptor. This blocks the action of endogenous histamine, which subsequently leads to temporary relief of the negative symptoms brought on by histamine. Histamine also increases vascular permeability and potentiates pain. It provides effective, temporary relief of sneezing, watery and itchy eyes, and runny nose due to hay fever and other upper respiratory allergies

INDICATION: Chlorpheniramine is used to relieve symptoms of allergy, hay fever, insect stings, pruritus and the common cold

CONTRAINDICATIONS: Allergy to Chlorpheniramine or any other ingredient of Chlorpheniramine syrup. 

SIDE EFFECTS: Include drowsiness, feeling nervous and excitable, tightness in the chest, constipation, blurred vision, hypertension

Dosage 

Age 

6-12 years :

5 ml (2mg) every 4-6 hours

(Maximum daily dose: 30ml (12mg) in any 24 hours)

2-6 years :

2.5 ml (1mg) every 4-6 hours 

(Maximum daily dose: 15ml (6mg) in any 24 hours). 

Children 1-2 years 

2.5 ml (1mg) twice daily 

(Minimum interval between the doses should be 4 hours.

Maximum daily dose: 15ml (6mg) in any 24 hours. 

Not recommended for children below 1year. 

WARNING / PRECAUTIONS: Do not exceed the stated dose

DRUG INTERACTIONS: Include alcohol, barbiturates, antiallergics, antidepressants, anxiolytics, antipsychotics, hypnotics. 

OVERDOSE 

Extreme sleepiness, weakness, ringing in the ears, blurred vision, enlarged pupils, dry mouth, flushing, fever, shaking, insomnia, hallucinations, possible seizures. 

ANTIDOTE: There is no specific antidote for overdose with antihistamine, decongestant, and anticholinergic combinations. Treatment is symptomatic and supportive. 

STORAGE: Store below 30°C, in a dry place. 

Keep all medicines out of the reach of children

PRESENTATION: 100ml syrup in a bottle placed in an outer carton with insert.
