Boosting Your Brainpower

Boosting Your Brainpower

How often do you think about your brain, the organ that controls your entire body?
Do you ever marvel at its capability and how much work it does every day?
Do you check in to give it a little spring clean and recharge it from time to time?

Like every other part of our body that helps us carry out activities, the brain works actively every day and will require some boost and maintenance to stay on track. Boosting your brain power doesn’t require a lot of money or expensive technology, all you need is to invest a bit of time to consistently train your brain.

With that in mind, here are some methods to boost your brain capacity and improve intelligence:

Exercise Regularly
Exercise! Exercise! Exercise!
We see and hear this all the time. Consistent exercise increases brain function and enhances neurogenesis which is the growth and development of nervous tissue. This means you develop new brain cells each time you exercise.

So get off the couch and get moving!
Your brain will thank you for it.

Eat healthily
The brain consumes over 20% of the nutrients and oxygen we consume, so feed it well!
Eat plenty of fruits and vegetables, and avoid junk food and sugary drinks. By eating healthy food, you’re less likely to suffer from mood swings, have a more positive outlook, and can focus better.

Reading keeps your mind active, which makes your brain stronger. Over time, reading improves your memory and attention span over time. Also, it improves your vocabulary, conversation skills, and communication abilities.

Get enough sleep
Shut your eyes for a few seconds and pay attention to your breathing.
How did that feel? Relaxing?

A good night’s sleep is like a mini detox for the brain. It is during this time that your body regenerates cells and removes toxins. It’s advisable to get some sleep between 9 pm. and midnight for optimal results.

Try something new
You can learn a new skill or play a new game. Having new experiences helps your brain grow and store information more effectively.

Improving your mental capacity is not something that will happen overnight. The more you practice, the faster you’ll see results.
