LAGOS STATE GOVT AWARDS FIDSON FOR BLOOD DONATION ADVOCACY

Fidson Healthcare Plc on June 14, 2022 received an award for her dedication and commitment to the advocacy for voluntary blood donation. This award was presented to the organization by the Lagos State Blood Transfusion at the WORLD BLOOD DONOR DAY SCIENTIFIC SYMPOSIUM organized to commemorate this year’s World Blood Donor Day.

The World Blood Donor Day is an annual global event that holds on June 14 every year. The Day was created to raise global awareness of the need for safe blood and blood products for transfusion; highlight the critical contribution voluntary, unpaid blood donors make to national health systems, and support national blood transfusion services, blood donor organizations and other non-governmental organizations.

The theme for this year’s exercise was “Donating blood is an act of solidarity, join the effort and save lives” and Fidson Healthcare Plc through her FEROBIN brand joined the rest of the world to raise the advocacy for safe blood donation.

The scientific symposium which was attended by dignitaries from government and private organizations including the Honourable Commissioner for Health, Lagos State, Professor Akin Abayomi; the President of the Blood Bank Society of Nigeria, Mrs Olutope Mofikoya; Permanent Secretary, Lagos State Ministry of Health, Dr Olusegun Ogboye and the Permanent Secretary Lagos State  Health Service Commission, Dr Muyiwa Eniayewun among other held after an initial Blood Donation Drive event on Saturday June 11, 2022.

Fidson was also at that event to reward voluntary donors with Ferobin syrup samples and other branded souvenirs as a way of encouragement.
