NEOFIDROL LOTION
Methylprednisolone acetate 2.5mg and Neomycin sulphate 2.5mg
Read this leaflet carefully before you start taking this medicine. • Keep this leaflet. You may need to read it again before, during or after use of this medicine.
- If you have any further questions, ask your healthcare provider. • This medicine has been prescribed for you only. Do not pass it on to others. It may harm them, even if their symptoms are the same as yours. • If any of the side effects become serious, or if you notice any side effects not listed in this leaflet, please inform your health care provider.

- WHAT NEOFIDROL LOTION IS AND WHAT IT IS USED FOR. Neofidrol Lotion is a multi-ingredient topical preparation containing two active ingredients, Methylprednisolone acetate (a synthetic glucocorticoid) and Neomycin sulphate (a bacteriostatic antibiotic from the aminoglycoside group). Neofidrol Lotion is a topical corticosteroid preparation for the treatment of acne.
- WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW BEFORE YOU USE NEOFIDROL LOTION Do not use Neofidrol Lotion.
- If you are sensitive (allergic) to the active ingredients or any of the additional ingredients contained in the preparation.
- If you suffer from herpes simplex, cow pox, chicken pox, tuberculosis of the skin or any other skin infection which does not respond to neomycin.
Do not begin to us use this medicine without consulting your doctor or pharmacist:
- If you suffer of have suffered in the past from impaired function of the immune system.
Special warning regarding the use of Neofidrol Lotion
- Do not use the preparation of a purpose other than that for which it is prescribed.
- Do not use the preparation on broad areas of the skin or on open wounds. • Do not allow the preparation to come into contact with the eyes or ears. In the event of contact, wash immediately with water.
- Special caution is required when used in children and adolescents; use at these ages must be accompanied by medical supervision.
- If you are sensitive to any food or medication, inform your doctor before using this medication.
- If you are taking, or have recently taken, other medicines including non prescription medicines and food supplements, tell your doctor or pharmacist. It is particularly important to inform your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking Cyclosporin (to prevent organ transplant rejection).
You must wait for at least one hour between applying this preparation and applying other medical preparation (if they were prescribed by a doctor) and between use of cosmetics, perfumes, soaps shaving cream, aftershave, etc.
Pregnancy and breastfeeding
If you are pregnant or breastfeed, consult your doctor before starting treatment with this preparation.
- HOW TO USE NEOFIDROL LOTION
After careful cleansing of the affected skin to minimize the possibility of introducing infection, Neofidrol Lotion should be applied sparingly to the affected areas once or twice a day initially. Care should be taken to avoid contact with the eyes. The frequency of application will vary from patient to patient, depending on their susceptibility to the drying effect of the lotion, and may have to be reduced to every other day in some patients.
Do not exceed the recommended dose
- Do not swallow this preparation. The preparation is intended for external use only.
- Avoid contact of the preparation with eyes, mucous membranes (mouth and nose) and ears.
- Shake the bottle well before use to form a uniform dispersion of the lotion. • If there is no improvement in your condition within a week, contact your doctor again.
If you use an overdose or if a child accidentally swallowed the preparation Proceed immediately to a hospital emergency room and bring the package of the preparation with you.
Do not use medicines in the dark. Check the label and the dose each time you take medicine. Wear glasses if you need them.

- POSSIBLE SIDE EFFECTS
As with any medicine, use of Neofidrol Lotion may cause side effects in some users. Do not be alarmed by the list of side effects. You may not suffer from any one of them.
Stop treatment and contact the doctor immediately in the event of: • Any allergic reaction, rash or local inflammation that did not exist before using this preparation (rare).
- Additional side effects: Burning sensation, itching, redness, local atrophy, striations on skins, secondary infection, maceration of the skin, prickly heat (miliaria), irritation, folliculitis, excessive hair growth in different areas of the body, hypopigmentation, laceration of the skin, allergic contact dermatitis, acne-like lesions, hearing loss, nephrotoxicity.
One of the actions of the preparation is to dry the skin; therefore, dryness of the skin may be possible at the treatment area.
If one of the side effects worsens or if you suffer from a side effect not mentioned in this leaflet, you must consult with your doctor.
- HOW TO STORE NEOFIDROL LOTION
Keep all medicines out of the reach and sight of children.
Store below 30ºC, in a dry place.
Do not use Neofidrol Lotion after the expiry date “Exp. Date” which is stated on the carton. The expiry date refers to the last day of that month
