(Clotrimazole + Zinc Oxide + Boric Acid + Ichthammol + Menthol) 

DESCRIPTION: TribotanR is a multi–ingredient preparation containing Clotrimazole, a synthetic broad- spectrum antifungal agent. Boric Acid, Ichthammol and Zinc Oxide which are indicated in a wide range of skin diseases. Menthol; another ingredient in Tribotan® is a useful agent in relieving itching in pruritis and urticaria. CLINICAL PHARMACOLOGY: Tribotan® is useful for treatment of skin infections caused by various species of pathogenic dermatophytes, yeast and other isolates. Clotrimazole, which is 1-(2–chlorotrityl) imidazole, exhibits fungistatic and fungicidal activity against isolates of Trichophyton mentagrophytes, Epidermophyton floccusum and Candida spp. including Candida albicans. Strains of fungi having resistance to Clotrimazole are rare. Only a single isolate of Candida guilliemondi has been reported to have primary resistance to Clotrimazole. 

Zinc oxide and–ichthammol are used in combination to treat other skin infections such as chronic eczema. The bacteriostatic property of ichthammol makes it useful in treating other varieties of skin disorders. Boric acid also has some bacteriostatic and fungistatic properties. DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION: Gently massage sufficient TribotanR into the affected and surrounding skin areas twice a day (morning and evening). Clinical improvement with relief usually occurs within the first week of treatment. If the patient shows no clinical improvement after 4 weeks of treatment, the diagnosis should be reviewed by physician. Use in children has also been established.

Use the medication for full treatment time even though symptoms might have improved. Inform the physician if the area of application show signs of increased imitation (redness, itching, burning, blistering, swelling or hamst oozing) indicative of possible sensitization.
